Prayer Calendar

December 2020

The truth is all those who believe and trust in Jesus have been sent by God to be ambassadors for God’s Kingdom (John 20:21 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). Some of us are simply sent further to different countries of the world and they need supporters to help fulfill the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel of Christ into the world. Please join us in supporting our Local and Global Outreach ministries and missionaries through prayer.

WEEK 1

Mozambique Outreach – (Director: Michael Boso) – Please pray that God would give wisdom to Pastor Benedito as he helps train 2 young leaders in Macalawane and works with Young Life to reach out to youth and connect them into the church community. Pastor Benedito also faces a challenge to finish his home in Mukotwene as construction is becoming expensive. The church plant from our 2019 outreach in Koca Messiva led by Pastor Vasco is seeing an exponential growth in youth ministry and bibles are needed. Pastor Maulidio is seeing great growth in another church he is leading. They have outgrown their current facilities. Please pray with them that the work would increase in their effectiveness and continue to grow stronger in disciple making.

Nancy Ware serving Refugees in North Akron Praise the Lord for the 4 children (Sweet, Lidiah, Daniel, and Wah) who recently received Christ as their Savior! Pray they grow deep roots in Him. Please ask God to abundantly provide for Cung and Chan who currently have no jobs. Also pray for God to open doors for me to build a friendship with Ro and that he would draw Ro to Himself.

Vietnam Outreach Pray that God would touch the hearts of the tribal people group who live in North Vietnam. This people group are unreached. Pray that the newer Love Homes in the northern provinces will grow stronger in the knowledge of God’s Word and would be emboldened to share the Gospel even when faced with persecution. Thanks be to God for the Love Homes and 1 church plant in North Vietnam. The Love Home model has been so affective during the pandemic. Also pray that God will guide our church partners as they reach out to another new province where there is much resistance to the Gospel.

WEEK 2

Chuck & Peggy serving in U.S.A. and Middle East - The small Turkish church, Anatolian Grace Church, continues to meet by Zoom. Our attendance is often better than in-person meetings, including people joining us from other states and sometimes other countries! Pray the Lord will build up all the believers in the community through the Word, worship, prayer and fellowship. In December Chuck will be writing an article on humility and status in Matthew for publication in the Turkish e-zine for church leaders (e-manet). Pray for ability in writing the article, that the article would help Turkish Christians, and that Chuck would get helpful feedback from Turkish Christians and better understand how to use Matthew in his research.

Chapel Urban Outreach – (Director: Lisa Marshall) – Pray for the Angel Tree Christmas Drive Thru on December 12th from 10am to Noon. We will be presenting the gifts in a fun drive through at the church parking lot where we will have fun with music, games and a unique way to share the Christmas story. Please pray for the 160 children represented in this year's giving as they have one or both parents incarcerated in an Ohio prison. Pray for the stigma of this on children and teens and that both inmate and child will hear and respond to the gospel this Christmas. Pray for protection against the virus as volunteers will be helping with this party on that day.

Cambodia Outreach – (Director: Kathi Ferris) – Praise the Lord that all the children of our Asia’s Hope family are finally able to attend school in person! Final approval from the Ministry of Education has been received, certifying that the schools meet Covid 19 protocol. Though some restrictions have been lifted due to the virus, please pray the children will continue to follow health guidelines and rules in order to keep the virus at bay. Continue to pray for wisdom and encouragement for the parents and staff.

WEEK 3

Amber & Edward Walthew serving in Poland - Praise the Lord that in spite of national COVID-19 restrictions and the suspension of face-to-face ministry, our family has been well, and we have been able to continue ministering in our community. Please pray for Edward's online language study. He was moved up to a higher-level class and is seeking wisdom from the Lord regarding whether the level is too difficult and if he would be more effective at learning Polish if he seeks a private tutor. Amber has been conducting online English tutoring with two children from a local family. Please pray that the Lord will provide opportunities for sharing the gospel with this family and that our friendship will grow.

Yucatan Outreach – (Director: Todd Lewis) –  Pray for our pastors and missionaries, for continued protection and good health. Pray for open hearts and ears so that villagers will listen to the message preached to them in spite of the confusion and struggle brought on by the pandemic. Also pray for continued wisdom and encouragement for our team to keep sharing the love of Christ boldly in every opportunity they encounter.

International Outreach – (Director: Stephen Morris) – Pray for wisdom as we reconsider what ministry looks like in a time when Covid cases are on the rise. Pray that we are able to keep building strong foundations with students, even if we aren’t able to meet in person as often. Through this time, pray for creativity in how we share the gospel and that we have many opportunities to share about the hope we have in Christ.

WEEK 4

T & H serving in United States & Globally - We are grateful for the outpouring of faithful prayers for the ministries we work closely with in equipping and bringing the hope of the Gospel to the least reached. Through the food donation programs during this time of COVID 19, last month 22 people put their faith in Jesus, and we had the privilege of baptizing 7 of them. We also had the privilege of training Jonathan to be one of our business trainers.  He is an MBB from one of the largest unreached people groups in the Sahel region. Since being trained, he has run our business training program a few times among an unreached people group, enabling MBBs who have been rejected from their community - because of their faith in Christ - to learn how to start and run a business and bring sustainability to themselves and their family.

India Outreach – (Director: Doug Lauer) Please pray that God will continue to provide for all of the needs of the pastors, teachers and health workers during this ongoing pandemic. Pray for wisdom and strength for the Pastors as they nurture these souls in the faith and help new believers grow in their walk with Jesus. Praise God for the new Virtual Good Shepherd Health Clinics that are being set up at Good Shepherd schools. Pray that God will use healthcare to draw many to Himself. Please continue praying for the family of one of our Good Shepherd Pastors, that was martyred in mid-October. He leaves his young wife S, two sons B. and V, and daughter S. This Pastor also helped to care for three children of his deceased brother. Pray that the God of all comfort will walk with them through this time and provide for all their needs. Pray for his church during this time of the tragic loss of their pastor and that a new pastor will be found to lead them very soon. In the interim this task will be met by his wife who was very active in their church ministry.
